NEW BAR ALERT: Jackie's Beer Nest 2 Now opened

Jackie’s Beer Nest recently opened a huge new space not too far from the original. They are still working out some details in soft-opening mode, but we stopped by for a first look (and a few beers).

LOCATION

Jackie’s 2 is located in Germany’s Hamburg expo building in the Shanghai Design Center on Baotun Lu. It’s about a 10 minute walk from Xizang nan lu metro station on Lines 4 and 8.

THE SPACE

The new Jackie’s is much bigger than the old one. They’ve got a 200 sqm outdoor patio, along with a 220 sqm inside space. 

The patio space is shared with The Hamburg House Restaurant, but Jackie’s has added a cool little outdoor beer hut. 

The inside space is 220sqm filled with 100 beer taps, as well as some funky German/China/Craft beer themed décor that somehow works really well.

THE BEER

Visitors will immediately notice there are a lot of taps at Jackie’s 2, 100 to be exact. Jackie’s 5th generation draft system is better than ever, it’s even able to clean the pipes in just 10 minutes.

As for beer selection, you can expect everything from the orginial Jackie’s, along with a wider selection of international craft brews. They probably won’t focus on having bottles yet, but you can always can your own beer for a da bao.

THE FOOD

One new addition to Jackie’s Beer Nest: a ‘street food’ menu that ranges from RMB20-50.

Preparing all the food is a Shanghainese chef who used to work at a 5-star hotel. Him and Jackie developed a Shanghai street-food menu with traditional Shanghai tastes (and a couple western items). You can also order food from the Hamburg House menu, which has a lot of solid German dishes, burgers and seafood. 

OTHER DETAILS

As for the original Jackie’s, it will remain open for business. Jackie decided to open his new space because of the rising rent and unpredictability of the old area.

It’s ‘soft open’ for now, so hours are daily 5-10pm. They’re expecting to be officially open in about 2 weeks, and will extend hours to 5-12pm (maybe longer on weekends).
